Orthodontic Specialist

Dr Maghnus O’Donnell founded his practice O’Donnell Orthodontics in 1993 and the practice is entering its third decade as a specialist orthodontic practice. O’Donnell Orthodontics was initially founded within The Northbrook Clinic, which is renowned throughout Ireland as a centre of excellence that offers specialist dental support to general dental practitioners and their patients. O’Donnell Orthodontics continues to grow and patients can also avail of Dr O’Donnell’s specialist services at Cannon Row Dental Surgery, Co. Meath and Pembroke Dental Centre, Co. Carlow.

Dr O’Donnell qualified from Trinity College Dental School in 1987. During his time here he was named the 1986 Winner of the Costello Medal for Undergraduate Dental Research. On completion of his undergraduate studies, he worked as both Junior and Senior House Surgeon at the Dublin Dental Hospital; rotating around orthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics, prosthodontics, paedodontics, restorative dentistry and accident and emergency. He spent a further two years working in general dental practice and graduated in 1994 with a master’s degree in orthodontics from the University of London. Between 1994-1996 he lectured undergraduate and postgraduate orthodontic students at The Dublin Dental Hospital.

Dr O’Donnell holds a Membership in Orthodontics with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh; a Membership in Orthodontics with the Royal College of Surgeons of England; a Membership of the Orthodontic Society of Ireland; and he is registered on the Orthodontic Specialist Register of the Dental Council of Ireland.

As a member of the OSI, Dr O’Donnell is qualified in general dentistry and is recognised as a specialist orthodontist by the Dental Council of Ireland.

The OSI promotes best practice in orthodontic treatment in Ireland through education and research. It is affiliated with high calibre local and international lecturers and international orthodontic organisations to ensure that OSI members are kept abreast of the latest tools and techniques available for the practice of modern orthodontic treatment.
